2000 Meters to Andriivka
A screening of Mstyslav Chernov's front-line documentary at Cornell Cinema, followed by a panel with Executive Director James Patton Rogers.
2000 Meters to Andriivka, a film by Mstyslav Chernov, follows Ukrainian soldiers fighting for every metre of ground during the war sparked by Russia's full-scale invasion. Shot on the front lines, it captures the brutal intimacy of modern trench warfare and the human cost behind every advance.
The film was screened at Cornell Cinema on Monday March 2 at 6:00pm, marking four years since the full-scale invasion began.
A post-screening panel followed with Executive Director James Patton Rogers, alongside Professor Emeritus Matthew Evangelista of the Department of Government.
Chernov, a Pulitzer-winning journalist, directed the Academy Award-winning 20 Days in Mariupol. The film follows a small platoon on a mission to liberate the Russian-occupied village of Andriivka during the 2023 counteroffensive, advancing through forest, minefields, and artillery fire.
The screening was held in collaboration with the Cornell Ukrainian Club, the International Student Association, and Cornell Cinema.
