TPI helps to secure NATO allies from the threat of drones

The Tech Policy Institute and the Icelandic think tank Varða have published Detect and Deter: Drone Threats, Governance Gaps, and the Future of Icelandic Defence.
Written by Elizabeth H. Redmond, Dr. James Patton Rogers, Sólrún H. G. Proppé, and Kristinn Árni L. Hróbjartsson, the report sets Iceland's position within the European and NATO frameworks it operates in, and draws out what recent drone incidents across Europe reveal for Icelandic defence.
Drawing on the view from the institutions on the front line, it identifies three gaps. A defence thinking gap, a response-authority gap, and a standing-watch gap.
The report closes with policy recommendations, beginning with a written counter-UAS coordination protocol to bridge detection and response.
